Iasmin Lucindo has accepted a suspension stemming from an out-of-competition drug test per official UFC drug testing partner Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD).
A drug test from September 24, 2025 resulted positive for mesterolone, a prohibited substance and anabolic steroid. The news of the failed drug test itself broke back in November, resulting in an initial suspension and removal of Lucindo from her scheduled December matchup versus Gillian Robertson. Now, CSAD has revealed an update to that suspension, making it official at nine months.
Her suspension will conclude on June 24, 2026.
Why only nine months for an anabolic steroid? The CSAD statement explains that Lucindo was cooperative and may have used unintentionally via a tainted dietary supplement:
“Throughout CSAD’s investigation, the evidence collected indicated that Lucindo Bezerra did not intentionally use mesterolone to gain a performance advantage. She cooperated fully with CSAD’s investigation, including submitting to a detailed interview and providing official government documentation from a Brazilian pharmacy where she obtained compounded dietary supplements prior to the adverse finding. The documentation indicated that the pharmacy regularly compounded products containing mesterolone and could not rule out the possibility that legal dietary supplements provided to Lucindo Bezerra may have been inadvertently contaminated with mesterolone.
Lucindo Bezerra’s testing history also supported low-level exposure to mesterolone. She provided a negative sample in August 2025, as well as a negative sample in October 2025 in Abu Dhabi, UAE, before she was notified of the adverse finding. The estimated concentration of mesterolone in her September sample was minimal. However, because she had already used up some of the supplements obtained from the Brazilian pharmacy, CSAD was unable to definitively conclude that the low-level adverse finding resulted from a contaminated supplement.”
Lucindo (18-6) has been a consistently strong prospect since coming up short in her short-notice UFC debut. She quickly put together four straight wins to emerge as a Strawweight contender before suffering a one-sided unanimous decision loss to Amanda Lemos at UFC 313 last year. She’s already rebounded with a solid decision win over Angela Hill on August 9, 2025 — I can’t imagine Hill is pleased that Lucindo popped just one month after that victory. Either way, Lucindo just turned 24 and won’t be majorly affected by this suspension.
Expect a summer or fall return.
