Talking to Boxing Social, Shakur Stevenson was complimentary about Teofimo Lopez.

“Yeah, I do, I see him as one of the guys. He’s the truth. He got great boxing skills, great boxing IQ. This fight is the best versus the best. And I’m ready to show that I’m the better fighter,” said Stevenson.

When asked if he was worried the judges would appreciate his work, Stevenson said: “I agree with you, but I worry about what I can control, and what I can control is going in there on fight night and doing everything that I’m supposed to do. The judging really don’t matter. I hope that they get everything the right way, but at the end of the day, I can’t focus on it.”

Shakur (24-0, 11 KOs) was also asked if this fight against Lopez (22-1, 13 KOs) is the fight that cements his place among the best fighters in the world:

“This fight, I cement my legacy, and I show who I truly am as a fighter. At the end of this fight, y’all will be talking about when I will be pound-for-pound number one. That’s what I’m chasing.”
