Rusty Anthony Joshua destroys running Jake Paul in massive sixth-round KO

Published:

Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua will square off in a Heavyweight contest tonight (Fri., Dec. 19, 2025) live on NETFLIX inside Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.

Paul deserves credit for this one. Time and time again, Paul has stacked the deck in his favor, taking on smaller and older fighters to build himself into one of boxing’s biggest names. After the planned Gervonta Davis bout imploded, however, Paul was more than willing to step up to a much bigger — literally! — challenge. He’s taking on a bonafide former Heavyweight world champion, and this isn’t 58-year-old Mike Tyson.

Joshua, conversely, is taking a well-paid side quest after coughing up a knockout loss last time out opposite Daniel Dubois. The stage is set for an incredibly high-profile showdown opposite Tyson Fury next year, but Joshua cannot afford an upset in what should be an easy victory for “AJ.”

Live results and highlights will begin to flow as soon as the athletes make their way to the ring …

Round One

Paul is light on his feet to start, dancing around the big ring. Joshua is stalking his pray, looking to establish the jab. Paul touches first with a jab of his own on the gloves, but the size difference is shocking here. Paul takes a right hand to the body as Joshua fires a counter hook. The two tumble to the floor off a clinch. Paul is moving well, lands a double jab. Joshua fires a right to the chest. Another right scores for Joshua partially to the gloves then a good body jab to close the round.

10-9 Paul

Round Two

Paul lands first with a right hand to the body, but a Joshua right scores harder a moment later. A Joshua jab bounces Paul off the ropes. Paul clinches to stymie a Joshua advance. Paul lands to the body again. Joshua connects with a left hook. Paul is on the rope and takes a right to the body. He’s doing well moving and clinching to avoid damage, but he’s not landing much this round. Neither man is. Joshua touches the body one more time before the bell.

10-9 Joshua

Round Three

Paul starts the third with a stiff jab followed by a clinch. Then he lands a left hook! I’m not sure Paul can maintain this pace forever, but he’s doing admirable work here. Joshua finds another hard right to the body. I think Paul just landed a solid uppercut? Joshua looks a little annoyed and takes a jab. Short punches in the clinch connect for Joshua. Joshua is loading up and missing with his right hand. His body shots land though. Closer round than the second.

10-9 Joshua

Round Four

Joshua jab snaps back the chin of Paul. A good overhand right scores for Paul! Followed by a couple jabs! Paul punching and clutching, and he gets warned for shooting takedowns instead of boxing clinches. Paul ducks under a big right hand swing, slips throwing his own overhand whiff. Nice uppercut from Joshua on the break of a clinch. Paul collapses to the floor off a clinch, likely due to some fatigue — he indicates it was a groin shot, and I am doubtful. Either way, he gets a break and they reset 30 seconds later. Paul jabs then lands a left hook. Paul shoots a full on double leg, and the ref yells at Joshua for hitting him on the way down. I don’t really know how to score this bizarre round, Paul probably should have lost a point for his antics, but he also landed the best punches?

10-9 Paul I guess

Round Five

Paul clinches immediately, but he’s looking exhausted. Paul takes a hard right hand in an exchange, likely Joshua’s best land upstairs yet. Joshua hits the body twice, and his foot is on the gas. Paul lands a big overhand swing! Joshua takes a right downstairs than lands an uppercut. Paul shoots another takedown, and the referee rules it a knockdown! Paul answers the count and takes a jab. A Joshua combo prompts another Paul takedown attempt and another knockdown ruled. Paul has to survive another 40 seconds. Paul lands a huge right hand but can’t follow up. Joshua advances and lands a right of his own. Joshua scores a heavy combination in the closing seconds, but Paul survives!

10-7 Joshua

Round Six

Joshua’s power punches are already finding the mark. This is going to be a long (or very short) round for “The Problem Child.” Paul shoots a takedown, the knockdown is called yet again. He’s more exhausted than hurt, but he doesn’t like the punches either. Uppercut combo scores for Joshua. After a combo, a massive right hand punctuates for Joshua and produces the first true knockdown of the fight. Paul regains his footing, but the referee rightfully intervenes.

It was a gutsy effort, but in the end, the inevitable Joshua knockout materialized.

Official result: Joshua defeats Paul via knockout
