Dumber than Power Slap? Meet ‘Run Nation,’ the new ‘collision sport’ that is probably gonna kill somebody

Published:

If you thought Power Slap was dumb … well, you were right.

But we may have found a new (cough) “sport” that is somehow even dumber. In case you haven’t seen those social media clips that were making the rounds last weekend, “Run Nation Championship” recently debuted at Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, Australia.

What’s the objective?

Two men run toward one another at full speed and collide head-on, and whoever doesn’t get concussed is declared the winner.

Have a look:

This is where the brain dead tough guys scream things like BUILT. DIFFERENT.

Don’t worry, your wheelchair will also be built different to accommodate your vegetative state.

“We’ve manufactured side-on contact, many markers and rules on the field and rules of engagement, and then on top of that, the player vetting process has just been enormous,” Run Nation co-founder and CEO Tremaine Fernandez told ABC. “[Front-on contact] was one of the challenges we had with the previous versions … it was a bit ugly.”

“If an injury does occur, we’ve got two doctors on the field who will be assessing what they saw and how to treat that,” Fernandez added. “We’ve got two NSW paramedics on the field if it’s for something more severe. We’ve got a team with neurologists, physios, chiropractors … whatever that injury may be, whether it’s just a shoulder, whether it’s a sore arm, whether it’s a hit to the head, not one stone has been left unturned.”

RNC 2 was a complete sellout with RNC 3 already in the works for later this year.
