Bektemir Melikuziev improved his record to 17-1 and secured his eleventh knockout after stopping Sena Agbeko with one second remaining in the seventh round of their super middleweight showdown inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“The Bully” pretty much had his way the entire fight, dictating the pace of the bout while peppering Agbeko with several hard shots early on. To his credit, Agbeko showed time and again he could take a punch, weathering the power-puncher’s onslaught.

In the closing seconds of round seven, Melikuziev tagged Agbeko with a nasty right hand that rocked him and followed it up with a straight left that sent him crashing to the canvas. To his credit, Agbeko was able to answer the count. Realizing there was only a few ticks left in the round Melikuziev rushed towered his foe and tagged him once more with a straight left — which didn’t seem all that powerful — which was enough for the referee put an end to the fight in a questionable move.

Nevertheless, Melikuziev made a statement tonight after landing 127 power punches to Agbeko’s 26, inching him closer to title shot. For Agbeko, the loss drops his professional boxing record for 29-5.
