Jacobe Smith solidified himself as a top prospect in UFC’s welterweight division earlier tonight (Sat., Feb. 21, 2026) at UFC Houston LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Toyota Center in Houston, Tex., laying waste to the debuting Josiah Harrell with a brutal first-round TKO (elbows and punches).

Smith entered Saturday night as a large betting favorite and for good reason. Aside from this being Harrell’s first trip to the Octagon, Smith’s potential was too significant to ignore (Exhibit A and Exhibit B). He’s a former wrestling standout with power in his hands and he also trains alongside UFC legend Daniel Cormier. It was up to Smith to turn in another memorable outing and try to get closer to a top 15 matchup.

The undefeated Smith didn’t disappoint. He was in full control from the opening bell and showcased the composure of a future star. Harrell did surprise with a nice takedown of his own, but the second the action hit the canvas Smith reversed position to land in top control. He immediately unloaded heavy elbows and punches that put Harrell out cold. The referee was late to the game so Smith landed a few extra shots before the official stoppage.

Check out the video highlights below, including Smith’s post-fight callout of UFC veteran Kevin Holland:
