“Never beat him properly” – Fury calls out Usyk for trilogy

Published:

John Fury has called out Oleksandr Usyk for a trilogy fight with his son Tyson.

Fury and Usyk fought twice in 2024 with the Ukranian picking up back-to-back victories.

The two losses to Usyk marked ‘The Gypsy King’s’ first career defeats.

With Fury now set to return to the sport, his father has called Usyk out for a third fight.

Fury spoke to IFLTV.

“Get back in with Tyson when we have had six months with him.

“Get the f* back in with Tyson, he never beat him properly.”

Usyk outpointed Fury both times and nearly stopped him in their first fight.

A month on from his second loss to the Ukrainian, Fury announced his retirement.

‘The Gypsy King’ took to social media last week to confirm he will in fact be making a comeback.

His dad John Fury spoke to Pro Boxing Fans and revealed he does not approve of the return.

“But I know, in my heart of hearts, at 37 or 38 going on, he’s never going to be as good as he was five years ago, but neither is anybody else.

“They’re all getting older — Usyk’s even older — and like I say, it’s his call, but am I happy about it? No.

“But me as a father, I’ve got to think sensibly, and health comes first before wealth, fame or anything.”

Fury went on to confess his worries for his son and the potential health risks of a return at 37-years-old.

“It’s got to come to an end one day.

“One day it’s going to be over and there will be no comebacks, but maybe that’ll be too late.

“Maybe the damage will be done, and the video he made the other day is a stark reminder.”

If not Usyk, Fury has eyed fights with some other top contenders in the heavyweight division.

He spoke about a possible clash with WBO world champion Fabio Wardley at some point this year.
