Brian Norman Jr will have a new lead trainer in his corner for his next fight.
Norman Jr lost for the first time as a professional in November, beaten on a unanimous decision by Devin Haney in Riyadh.
The 25-year-old, who was dropped in the second round, was relieved of his WBO welterweight world title in his third defence.
The Georgia man has now revealed that he will no longer be trained by his father Brian Norman Sr and is currently exploring his options on who will lead his corner when he returns to the ring.
“My father is no longer my head trainer at the moment,” Norman Jr told Cigar Talk.
“I have been looking at other options at the moment.
“I knew some things had to get shaken up a little bit.
“I just had to move different ways that’s all.”
Asked how difficult the decision was to leave his father, who has guided his whole professional career to date, he responded: “Yes and no.

“Yes, because that’s my pops.
“But no, because I’m a man. I like winning. I need to go out here and win.
“Whatever I feel like I need to do, I’m going to go out there and do it.

“No disrespect to him. Great coach. He got me to this point.
“He’s still around, just the head trainer I feel like I need to venture out a little bit.”

Norman Jr, who was upgraded to full WBO champion in August 2024, scored a knockout of the year contender in June, destroying Jin Sasaki in the fifth round to land himself a showdown with Haney.
‘The Assassin’ says he’s targeting a return in March or April and is keen on a rematch with ‘The Dream’ down the line.
“I need my belt back,” he added.
“I don’t like losing at all.
“He’s got to see me.”
