Julianna Pena, Norma Dumont offer to replace Kayla Harrison at UFC 324

UFC 324 took a major hit just days before fight night.

The first numbered Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event of 2026 was dealt a significant blow this morning when it was revealed that Women’s Bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison suffered a neck injury and has been forced out of her highly anticipated co-main event showdown with Amanda Nunes. The bout was scheduled to take place next weekend (Sat., Jan. 24, 2026) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to CBS, Harrison vs. Nunes is expected to be rescheduled for a later date. Still, that hasn’t stopped other contenders from quickly raising their hands to face the former two-division champion on short notice.

Former two-time Bantamweight champion Julianna Peña was among the first to speak up, sharing a mock poster on Instagram teasing a third fight with Nunes.

Peña has been angling for a rubber match ever since being dominated in their rematch and even attempted to secure a bout with Nunes before losing her title to Harrison (watch highlights). Since 2016, “The Venezuelan Vixen” has alternated wins and losses, but she remains one of the division’s most outspoken (annoying) — and recognizable — figures.

Also volunteering as a replacement is No. 3-ranked contender Norma Dumont, who is riding a six-fight winning streak and most recently earned a split decision victory over Ketlen Vieira.

“Hey everyone, I just found out that Amanda and Kayla’s fight is off, and I already told the UFC that I’ve kept my weight down because I knew this might happen,” Dumont said on Instagram. “I’m training, I’m good, and I’ve already let them know I’m available to fight in ten days, in a month, in two or three months. I’m ready to go. Whatever the UFC decides, we’ll make it happen. That’s it. We’re waiting, and who knows, maybe we’ll have a new interim title with Amanda. I think it would be incredible.”

With Harrison vs. Nunes postponed, a logical move could be booking Dumont vs. Peña to determine the next title challenger. But with just 10 days remaining until UFC 324, all options remain on the table — especially if UFC wants two title fights on their debut show.
