Jake Paul used social media to tease a “major update” ahead of his Anthony Joshua fight.
So what’s the big news?
“El Gallo” recently signed WBC lightweight champion and 2020 Olympian “Sweet” Caroline Dubois, who is the younger sister of former WBA and IBF heavyweight titleholder Daniel Dubois. “Dynamite” knows a thing or two about Joshua, having stopped “AJ” in their heavyweight headliner last fall in Riyadh.
And no Paul announcement would be complete without a corny skit:
Maybe Joshua “brought in Usyk” for group prayer.
“Signing with MVP is the next step in my career, I’m proud to be under their roster, and I believe they will be able to help me on my quest for greatness,” Dubois said. “The mission must be to become the face of women’s boxing. I’m super excited to make my debut on MVP and Netflix on Friday, December 19. Winning and winning in style, while announcing myself on the biggest stage and platform, is my dream and main motivation.”
Dubois (11-0-1, 5 KOs) defends her 135-pound title against Italy’s Camila Panatta (8-2-1, 1 KO) on the Paul-Joshua “Prelims” card inside Kaseya Center in “The Sunshine State.”
“Caroline Dubois has been the most coveted free agent in women’s boxing and we are thrilled to have her join MVP. She’s a champion, an Olympian and a rising star in the UK and beyond, and she makes her MVP debut Friday, December 19, as she joins the stacked Jake vs. Joshua card in her third world title defense,” said Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, co-founders of Most Valuable Promotions. “While existing and new boxing promoters battle about belts, MVP’s focus on women’s boxing is driven by creating a global brand, with the largest roster of elite fighters, that delivers a product that is unquestionably the best athletes in the sport.”
That “battle about belts” could change the boxing landscape in 2026 (and beyond).
Regardless of how you feel about Paul’s place in the “sweet science,” MVP remains committed to women’s boxing. The upcoming Netflix card also features Alycia Baumgardner (16-1) vs. Leila Beaudoin (13-1) for the unified super featherweight title and the undisputed bantamweight title fight pitting Cherneka Johnson (18-2) against Amanda Galle (12-0-1). In addition, Yokasta Valle (33-3) tangles with Yadira Bustillos (11-1) for the WBC strawweight strap.
