Dalton Smith has a target on his back after winning a maiden world title.
Smith spectacularly knocked out Subriel Matias to become the WBC super lightweight world champion in Brooklyn last Saturday.
The 28-year-old has since targeted a unification clash with the winner of the January 31 showdown between WBO champion, Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson, a bout he intends to be ringside for at Madison Square Garden.
Unbeaten former lightweight world champion, Keyshawn Davis makes his return to the ring in a super lightweight clash against Jamaine Ortiz on the undercard and is keen on a future meeting with the Sheffield man.
“Dalton Smith you lit,” Davis told Ring Magazine.
“You got a good little record.
“We probably can do something here.
“He’s a great champion. He’s been around for some time.

“We all know him.
“It’s not a mistake. He’s 19-0 knocking guys like Subriel out.
“Hats off to Dalton Smith.”

Smith has already been mandated to face former WBC champion, Alberto Puello, who lost his belt against Matias in July.
Matchroom CEO Frank Smith is hopeful of fitting in a bout before Puello potentially at Hillsborough Stadium, the home of Smith’s beloved Sheffield Wednesday.
“You’ve got Shakur against Teofimo taking place on January 31,” Frank Smith told Sky Sports.
“A unification against the winner of that is a massive fight.

“There’s obviously the WBC mandatory at some point against Alberto Puello.
“Hopefully, we’ll get another fight before that.
“We want the biggest fights possible and he’s in that position to be involved in those big fights.

“I think summer time is most realistic.
“I’ve been speaking to the Hillsborough team around something there, whether that’s next or down the line, let’s see.
“July at Hillsborough would be perfect.”
