“It’s not because of me”- Fabio Wardley reveals all on Tyson Fury fight

Published:

Ahead of his return, Tyson Fury has been offered a shot at Fabio Wardley’s WBO world title.

Fury is expected to take a comeback fight first before making a real shot at a world title, yet Wardley said he is prepared to fight ‘The Gypsy King’.

Fury announced his retirement from boxing back in January last year, following his second successive defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.

Usyk dealt the 37-year-old his first and only career losses.

Following his retirement, Fury announced he will actually make a comeback and aims to get back to the top, likely eyeing becoming a three-time heavyweight world champion.

Fury is expected to ease his way back into the sport before fighting for a world title but WBO world champion Wardley has opened the door for an immediate challenge.

He spoke to IFLTV.

“If he wants it, I’m in. For me, if that fight isn’t my next fight, it’s not because of me.

“If you want it, it’s there, if you don’t and he’d like a little warm-up or whatever else he wants to do, fine.

“Do whatever you need to do.”

The man from Ipswich became a world champion in November.

He picked up the interim title with an 11th round stoppage win over Joseph Parker at the O2 Arena, London.

With Usyk vacating the title, Wardley was made full world champion.

Wardley commented on how warm-up fights for a fighter like Fury could actually bring more risk than what they are worth.

“I don’t think at his age, how long he’s been in the game, him prancing around with someone to knock them over after 10 rounds is going to do him many favours, but fine.

“I’ll change my sights and look for something else.”

Despite Wardley being open to the fight, Fury has called out many potential opponents that seem more likely.

One of those names is hard-hitting Russian heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov who initially seemed the frontrunner to land a fight with Fury.

‘The Lion’ spoke to Boxing King Media about the potential fight.

“I hear nothing just I see some time people talking, I think it’s just like people talking, but of course, if you ask me, of course, I want this fight.

“Which is for me a dream fight because Tyson Fury is one of the best heavyweights in history I think, for me.

“It’s a pleasure to fight against big names like Tyson Fury.”

Another name who may land a fight with ‘The Gypsy King’ is Brandon Moore who was keen on a fight.

He spoke to The Ring Magazine.

“I find it very disrespectful. I’m pissed that he even thought to even think of my name, but I’m excited. This is what I pray for.

“We’re going to get in that ring [and] I’m going to show Tyson Fury some stuff that he’s never seen before.

“I’m going to put that pressure on him, and it’s going to be a night where I’m clicking, and he’s not.”
