UFC 324 is upon us, and fans are being treated to a fun fight card to start the year. The event boasts must-see matchups from top to bottom, but we will be one short heading into Saturday night.
While all eyes will be on the main card, with several intriguing clashes taking place, a serious concern with fighter health was raised on Friday when Cameron Smotherman, immediately after weighing in, collapsed on stage.
The visual of Smotherman falling and faceplanting the floor was unsettling for most.

Despite fainting, Cameron Smotherman was in good spirits after releasing a video on social media.
Though many considered his weight cut to be the main issue that caused Smotherman to lose consciousness, the 28-year-old dismissed that notion.
“I, obviously, have gotten a lot of messages and I appreciate all of the genuine concern about me,” Smotherman said on Instagram. “I’m completely ok. I’m good.”
“I’m not entirely sure what happened. I see a lot of people online saying, ‘Oh, it was a crazy weight cut.’ And stuff like that. I genuinely didn’t cut very much weight for this fight. I came in pretty, you know, low.”

“Over the course of this week, I haven’t cut much weight. I’m not entirely sure what happened. I have some more tests and stuff to take in the coming weeks to get to the bottom of it. But, for all the people saying I must have done a crazy cut or something like that, I cut very, very little weight.”
Smotherman went on to apologise to Ricky Turcios, his scheduled opponent for UFC 324, and hopes to return to the octagon in the near future once he has a stronger understanding of his health.
“Yeah, I’m not sure what happened. But I appreciate the concern. I’m completely ok and I’ll hopefully be back soon. I apologise to my opponent.”
