Carl Froch shares brutal opinion on Tyson Fury and his comeback

Published:

Tyson Fury has more than made a habit of retiring and then unretiring throughout his career, and therefore, it was no surprise to many when recently “The Gypsy King” announced his intention to return to professional boxing in 2026.

After he confirmed his intentions, speculation began on who he would fight. Fury has been consistent on his social media, documenting his return. Former super middleweight world champion Carl Froch is one who’s not thrilled by Fury’s comeback, and gave his honest opinion on “The Gypsy King” and his much-publicised comeback when speaking to CoinPoker.

Tyson Fury announces return to professional boxing

Announcing his return on social media, Fury said:

“2026 is that year Return of the mac. Been away for a while but I’m back now, 37 years old and still punching,” Fury wrote. “Nothing better to do than punch men in the face & get paid for it.”

Attention immediately went to Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua, before AJ was injured in a fatal car crash, with two of his friends and members of his training team, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele killed.

Rumours have been circling about who could face Fury in his first fight, with Arslanbek Makhmudov the name mentioned most often. Many seem intrigued by Fury’s return, but some are not.

Froch is no fan of Fury

When talking to CoinPoker, Froch did not hold back in his opinion on Fury:

“I think to call somebody a kn*bhead, you’ve got to actually have some kind of animosity in your head when you don’t really like him. At the minute I think Tyson Fury has been a kn*bhead. But he’s been a kn*bhead for years. I think everyone knows he is a kn*bhead. Purely for coming out of retirement when he doesn’t need to. Stay retired, you kn*bhead. The last time I saw him was in Turkey he was a kn*bhead when I asked him for a chat for my channel.”

Tyson Fury’s comeback

Discussing Fury’s comeback, Froch again did not hold back:

“I don’t want to be horrible because I like Tyson and mentally, I think he can be a little bit fragile with his mental health, but it’s boring now. He’s come out of retirement again and the amount of times he’s said it, nobody believes him. I don’t want to give him too much stick, but he is f*cking attention seeking and that’s what he does.”

How do you feel about Fury’s comeback? Can he win another world title? Or has his star quality faded?
