Conor Benn is on the hitlist of another American.
In recent weeks, Benn has been the subject of callouts from four-weight world champion, Shakur Stevenson and Ryan Garcia, who challenges Mario Barrios for his WBC welterweight world title in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Benn was even called into the ring by Stevenson following his victory over Teofimo Lopez in New York last month.
‘The Destroyer’ has confirmed his intentions to return to welterweight following two grudge matches with Chris Eubank Jr at middleweight, the second of which he won by unanimous decision after losing their first bout in April.
The 29-year-old will be ringside at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday for Barrios vs Garcia and is the mandatory challenger for the winner and has also targeted a meeting with WBA titlist, Rolly Romero.
The Brit though has now been called out by former undisputed super welterweight world champion, Jermell Charlo.
Charlo hasn’t fought since defeat to Canelo Alvarez in September 2023, but the 35-year-old earmarked Benn and Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis as part of his wishlist.
“I have wrote to Eddie Hearn,” Charlo said on Cigar Talk.
“Hello Eddie, please answer my DMs if you see this message.
“I want you to set up something between me and your best fighter Boots.
“I like Conor Benn, he’s a cool fighter, but business wise we’ve got to make it happen.
“I’m not a friend to none of these motherf******.”
‘Iron Man’ has also been linked with a showdown against former welterweight world champion, Errol Spence Jr.
The pair were stablemates when both were training under Derrick James and Charlo has urged ‘The Truth’ to forego plans to face Tim Tszyu in Australia and instead entertain a bout with him.
“I don’t have no problem [with Spence],” he added.
“He’s just in my weight class.
“I fought Vanes [Martirosyan].
“We were stablemates.
“Shakur and everyone else sparred and fought everyone, why can’t we fight?
“You say you’re the best. You say you’re 154.
“Tsyzu in Australia bro, get this money in America bro.”
