Craig Jones Responds To Gordon Ryan’s Octopus Counter: “I Watched All Four Minutes of It and I Thought, Why Did I Not Think of Crossface?”

Published:

Craig Jones has addressed Gordon Ryan‘s recently released Octopus Guard counter series, crediting his longtime rival with inadvertently generating substantial revenue for charity.

Jones took to social media with footage thanking Ryan for what he described as unexpected promotional assistance. The Australian grappler revealed that BJJ Fanatics placed his “Octopus Guard 2.0” instructional on daily deals at a significant discount, resulting in impressive sales figures that ultimately benefited charitable causes.

“I can only speculate that I got to give thanks to Gordon Ryan for promoting it on his YouTube channel and he released a counter series for free,” Jones stated in the video.

“He did something for free, and I sat there and I watched all four minutes of it and I thought, why did I not think of that? Just to cross face. Brilliant. Thank you. Appreciate that. Cannot wait for the full cross face instructional.”

Jones’s response arrives during the heightened scrutiny within the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community following serious allegations against Andre Galvao.

Jones has been vocal in supporting those affected by recent controversies, while simultaneously working with authorities to get Izaak Michell to justice.

According to Jones’s announcement, the instructional generated approximately $300,000 in gross sales during its initial release period. He confirmed that over $35,000 has been directed to Safe Austin, an organization providing services for those affected by assault in Austin, Texas.

While Ryan recently centered his commentary on Jones’s perceived silence regarding the situation at Team Atos, Jones has redirected attention toward concrete action, converting instructional sales into support for crisis services.

Jones also subtly addressed criticism regarding his public statements, noting that some community members have remained conspicuously quiet during recent controversies.

“Guys please take note of the people remaining silent,” he wrote. “Don’t want to shake the hornets nest, the skeletons in their closet.”

For his part, Ryan shared that 300 of his 900,000 followers liked the post he made on story calling out Craig Jones.
