Dana White reacts to Conor McGregor vs. Jorge Masvidal rumors – ‘It’s goofy s—t’

The search for Conor McGregor’s return opponent continues.

Earlier this week, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) CEO Dana White officially shut the door on a long-discussed Michael Chandler vs. McGregor matchup for this year’s historic UFC White House card, immediately sending fight fans into speculation mode over who might land the coveted “red panty night.”

That speculation intensified when former two-time Welterweight title challenger Jorge Masvidal claimed he was in talks with the UFC about a potential showdown with McGregor — a matchup that has loosely lingered in the background since 2020.

It turns out, however, that talk was just that.

White appeared on TMZ Sports and wasted no time dismissing the rumors.

“I don’t listen to any of the goofy shit. It’s goofy shit,” White said when asked about McGregor vs. Masvidal. “The MMA world — I don’t listen to any of that shit. Literally none of that is on my algorithm. Almost everything you see on the internet about our sport is wrong. It’s all wrong.”

As blunt as ever, White also made it clear that even he doesn’t know whether McGregor will actually return to competition — let alone who he might fight.

“We’ll see if Conor’s going to come back or not,” White said in a separate interview with Complex (the same appearance in which he officially nixed the Chandler fight). “We’ve been talking about it for a while. We’ll see how it plays out.”

Whether McGregor ultimately follows through on yet another comeback attempt remains the biggest question, but all signs suggest the UFC is at least preparing for the possibility.

More clarity is expected after UFC 324, when White is slated to begin formally matchmaking for the UFC White House super card.
