Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois set for May 9 clash

Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs) has shown an unbelievable will-to-win in his fights. Alongside his devastating power, this has helped him come from way behind on the scorecards to stop Justis Huni. He was also involved in an action-packed fight against Joseph Parker.

Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) was written off following defeats to Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk, before bouncing back in style, beating Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua. Following that, he lost again to Usyk.

Both of these fighters punch like mules, don’t blink or you could miss it!

Tony Bellew gives his verdict on Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois

When asked about Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois, Bellew said: “Really good fight.”

“People keep making out this thing that Daniel Dubois is a better boxer than Fabio Wardley, but I actually don’t think he is. I think Fabio Wardley is a better boxer than Daniel Dubois. I think he’s got more strings to his bow. There’s more things that he can do.

“I think his defence is better. Don’t get me wrong, the one thing that Daniel Dubois can do better than Fabio Wardley is if he can just go on pure aggression and power, then of course I think Daniel Dubois is the better skilled in that department, but as an all-round fighter, I think Fabio Wardley is better than Daniel Dubois, and I think he’ll show it on the night,” said Bellew.

Breaking the fight down, Bellew added: “He’ll look to negate and start quite slow. Daniel Dubois is a confidence fighter. The more confident he is, the better he is. If you can strip that confidence back within the first couple of rounds, A few stiff, hard, heavy jabs make him question himself, am I ready for this, put it on him in short spaces. Don’t be exchanging with him in the first couple of rounds. I’d be shooting from quite far out with the jab, and looking to nail him on the way in, when he rushes in.

“And I think by the end of round two, he’ll be questioning himself.”

Tony Bellew was then asked if he really believes the doubts will come that early: “If Fabio was to nail him hard enough on the way in within the first two rounds, he would question himself, without a shadow of a doubt,” responded Bellew.
