Imanol Rodríguez remained undefeated in a successful Octagon debut earlier tonight (Sat., Feb. 28, 2026) at UFC Mexico City LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico, when the former Contender Series standout stopped the hard-nosed Kevin Borjas with a second-round TKO (punches).
This was a wild fight to say the least. While Rodriguez was a sizable betting favorite heading into Saturday’s main card matchup Borjas is a gamer. He’s got good striking, solid scrambling, and a durable gas tank. It was going to be up to Rodriguez to prove he’s as good as advertised.
Needless to say, Rodriguez was tested early in his debut. Borjas clipped him with a clean counter in the opening minute of the first round and sent him to the canvas. The Mexican fighter quickly returned to his feet, but Borjas was in hot pursuit. Rodriguez was hit with a few more clean punches and some knees without going out, which showed his resolve. Eventually, he was able to score a takedown and regain his composure.
Everything came full circle for Rodriguez towards the end of the second round when he scored a right hand along the fence. It didn’t even land clean, but Borjas was hurt badly and sat himself down against the cage. Rodriguez moved in for some insurance shots before the referee stepped in.
