Olympic gold medalist and former unified featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa recently signed a multi-fight, multi-year deal with BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing. Known as “El Ciclon de Guantanamo” (The Guantanamo Cyclone), Gamboa has faced a who’s-who of boxing royalty including Terence Crawford, Devin Haney, Gervonta Davis, and Isaac Cruz.

Crawford has repeatedly named Gamboa as the hardest-hitting opponent of his entire career.

“Bare knuckle boxing is the oldest form of boxing,” Gamboa said in today’s release. “After winning an Olympic gold medal, world championships in boxing, now I’m focused and excited to become BKB Bare Knuckle World Champion. I’m going to showcase my skills and show why I belong at the very top of this sport.”

In addition to his WBA titles, Gamboa is the first-ever Cuban boxer to capture an IBF crown.

“It’s an honor to welcome Yurorkis to bare knuckle, and I can’t wait to see his skills and pedigree on display in the Trigon,” said Mike Vazquez, founder of BKB Bare Knuckle. “We’ve got some incredible Cuban fighters on our roster, including our heavyweight world champion. This year we’re going to see more and more elite fighters join our global roster of over 200 fighters from over 30 countries.”

The Gamboa signing comes on the heels of the recent addition of former IBF and WBA champ Paulie Malignaggi, who battles Rolando Dy for the BKB Super Welterweight title on May 16 in Manchester. Prior to that, BKB will stage multiple events, including BKB 51: “Heavy Lies The Crown” on Feb. 21 in London.
