Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey wanted UFC CEO Dana White to promote her return to MMA, a five-round featherweight headliner against former Strikeforce attraction Gina Carano.
After all, they’re “good f—king friends.”
But White passed on the offer, sending Rousey to MVP and Netflix and adding another layer to the May 16 “rivalry” at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
“This rivalry has so many layers,” Rousey wrote on X. “Netflix isnt playing around — bet you we can beat
UFC on Paramount+ numbers.“

Those numbers have been “massive” thus far, so Rousey may have her work cut out for her.
It’s worth noting that Rousey hasn’t competed in nearly a decade and Carano has been out of action since 2009. Watching at home on Netflix is an easy ask for the casual observer, but whether or not the equity in their combined name value is enough to fill the 18,300 seat Intuit Dome remains to be seen.
UFC has yet to release its schedule for May.
