Fowler won the title with a flawless performance against David Garmo at UFC BJJ 2 last year, and now he’s back to face his first challenger. His opponent is another UFC BJJ veteran and they actually have the exact same record: 1-0 with one submission finish. Pedro Machado made his debut all the way back at UFC BJJ 1 and although he hasn’t competed for the promotion since, he clearly made an impression. Machado generally focuses on gi competition but he’s got some of the best armbars in the heavier weight classes and should be able to give Fowler a very tough test for his first title-defense.
In the women’s bantamweight title- fight, Ffion Davies will be making her promotional debut against Cassia Moura. Although it’s technically Davies first match for UFC BJJ, she did compete in the final show of their precursor event; beating Adele Fornarino at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 11. Moura has quite a lot of experience with the UFC BJJ bowl though, as she made her debut back at UFC BJJ 1 and beat Talita Alencar by decision. She also won a decision over Alex Enriquez at UFC BJJ 3; beating two of the top bantamweights in the world in quick succession. Now she gets a shot at Davies and the UFC BJJ title in what will be a huge match for the division.
UFC BJJ announced the pair of title-fights for UFC BJJ 6 in a recent post to their official Instagram account:
