If anyone was expecting a Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira matchup at the upcoming UFC White House card then look away now.

While fight fans have been calling for a heavyweight (or even light heavyweight) superfight between Jones and Pereira nothing of substance has really come out of it. UFC officials started planning out the official White House card earlier this week, but fans don’t know if that’s going to include Jones at all, let alone a matchup between the UFC legend and “Poatan.”

Both Jones and Pereira have voiced their eagerness to throw down inside of the Octagon, but it doesn’t count for much when Jones can’t be counted on himself. This has left Jones’ return in limbo and fight fans frustrated that a superfight with Pereira hasn’t been booked. Things appear to be even more bleak after Jones talked about the potential fight on Friday.

While in attendance to promote his Dirty Boxing Championship 5 fight card, Jones was interviewed by The Schmo and eventually asked about Pereira. Jones had nothing positive to say about a fight being booked and even seemed uncertain if he’d ever return to fighting at all. It was just a another wrinkle in the ongoing waiting game for Jones to get back into the Octagon.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen,” said Jones. “I’m working out. I’m eating healthy. I’m living the lifestyle. I’m walking the walk the way I’ve done it my whole life.

“I don’t really know what’s going to happen. I take it one day at a time, some things are just out of my control.

“I feel blessed whether I fight again or not, I feel wonderful.”
